Alejandro Sanchez-Lopez is an experienced planning professional with a robust background in urban and environmental planning. Currently serving as the Advance Planning Officer for the City of Long Beach since June 2017, Alejandro oversees a team of approximately 12 staff members, managing long-range, environmental, and historic preservation planning and acting as the city liaison for the Cultural Heritage Commission. Previous roles include serving as a Planner in Development Services, a David M. Wodynski Memorial Fellow, and a Data Analyst at the USC Program for Environmental & Regional Equity. Alejandro began a career in planning with earlier internships, including positions at the City of Pico Rivera and the City of Los Angeles. Alejandro holds a Master's degree in Planning with a focus on Economic Development from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from UC Irvine.
