Matt Wachter serves as the Director of the Department of Planning, Community, and Economic Development for the City of Madison, WI, since 2011, overseeing multiple divisions including Planning, Community Development, Economic Development, Building Inspection, and the Community Development Authority. Prior roles include Office of Real Estate Services Manager, where negotiation of Tax Increment Finance (TIF) agreements and real estate transactions took place, and Housing Initiatives Specialist, managing complex real estate development projects and authoring the City's strategic housing plan. Previously, Matt worked as an Energy Grant Administrator, securing substantial funding for energy efficiency projects, and as a Green Building Consultant at Madison Environmental Group, Inc. Additionally, experience includes serving as a Field Representative for Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin. Matt holds an MBA in Real Estate Finance and Urban Economics from the Wisconsin School of Business and a B.S. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
