City Councillor At-large at City of Malden

Karen Colón Hayes serves as a City Councillor At-Large for the City of Malden since January 2012, where responsibilities include connecting citizens with local government and representing the entire city. In addition, since 2016, Karen has held the position of Director of Human Services and Community Outreach in the City of Malden, overseeing programs for senior citizens, youth, housing, and job development while liaising with community organizations. As President of Friends of Oak Grove, Inc. since May 2005, Karen founded a non-profit organization aimed at enhancing community cohesiveness through various events. Previous experience includes roles as Business Manager at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Family Counseling and Guidance Center, along with serving as Office Manager at A. Anthony Tappe and Associates. Karen holds a Master's degree from Simmons College School of Social Work and a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatry and English from the University at Albany.
