Doug McCoun, EFO's work experience includes serving as the Fire Chief for the City of Marina since 2015. Prior to that, they worked at the North County Fire Protection District from 1998 to 2015, holding positions such as Division Chief / Fire Marshal and Fire Captain. Doug also served at the North County Fire Protection as a Lieutenant from 1990 to 1998. Doug'scareer in the fire service began in 1982 as a Reserve Fire Fighter, and they later became a Firefighter from 1988 to 1990.

Doug McCoun, EFO has a diverse education history that spans several years and includes degrees in different fields. Doug began their education journey in 1992 at Hartnell College, where they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Fire Science/Fire-fighting in 1998.

McCoun furthered their education in the field of fire services administration from 1990 to 2003 at California State Fire Training, earning a California State Certified Chief Officer certification.

In 2006, they enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Occupational Studies - Vocational Arts, which they successfully completed in 2009.

McCoun's educational pursuits culminated in their attendance at the U.S Fire Administration / National Fire Academy from 2010 to 2013, where they achieved the degree of Executive Fire Officer (EFO) in Executive Development / Leadership.
