James Tolbert has extensive experience in public service, starting as a firefighter/EMT with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service before transitioning to the US Navy as an Aviation Specialist. James then served as a Police Officer with the City of Monroe from December 2004 to March 2013, where James also took on roles as a Narcotics K9 Handler, Pro Act Officer, and TaskForce Officer. Continuing their career in law enforcement, James joined the City of Marysville in March 2013 and has since held various positions including SWAT Operator, Detective, Traffic Sergeant, and SRO Sergeant. Currently, James holds the title of Police Commander and has served as the MPOA Guild President and Vice President.
