Steve Smirti

Steve Smirti has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and public relations. Steve is currently the Director of Communications for the City of Medford, where they are responsible for compiling public health information related to the COVID-19 pandemic and disseminating it to the community. Prior to this, they were the Director of Communications for Senator Todd Kaminsky in the New York State Senate, where they managed communication strategies and media relations. Steve also served as the Deputy Press Secretary for the Office of the Supervisor in the Town of Hempstead Government, where they developed social media strategies and wrote public-facing communications. Steve gained experience in data analysis and web development as a Data Producer and Digital Producer at the New York Daily News. Earlier in their career, Steve worked as an Editor for a weekly newspaper, overseeing content management and layout design.

Steve Smirti attended Nassau Community College from 2008 to 2010, where they earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Following this, they went on to study at Hofstra University from 2010 to 2013. Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism.
