Charles D. Brynteson has over 25 years of work experience in various roles in the firefighting and military sectors. Charles D. began their career as a Firefighter for the City of Minneapolis in March 1994 and served in that role until September 1999. During this time, they also worked as a Staff Captain in the Fire Training division from January 2001 to July 2007. From September 1999 to January 2011, Brynteson held the position of Fire Captain for the City of Minneapolis. Charles D. then served as Deputy Fire Chief in the Training Division from February 2011 to August 2012, and later as Assistant Fire Chief in the Operations department from August 2012 to the present.
In addition to their firefighting career, Brynteson also served in the military. Charles D. was a Weather Specialist and Unit Administrator for the United States Air Force from July 1987 to April 1993. From January 1998 to July 2013, Brynteson also worked as a C-130 Loadmaster for the US Air Force Reserve.

Charles D. Brynteson earned their Associate's Degree in Aviation Operations from the Community College of the Air Force, where they studied from 1987 to 2010. Charles D. then pursued an Associate's Degree in Fire Science at Hennepin Technical College from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, they also participated in the Executive Officer Program at the National Fire Academy. Most recently, Brynteson obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Metro State University, where they were enrolled from 2016 to 2017.
