Ashley Ivey has a diverse work experience, starting as an intern at Communication Services, Inc. in 2005. Ashley then did an internship at Potter & Company, P.A. in 2005-2006. Ashley later joined Potter & Company as a Senior Accountant in 2006 and worked there until 2012. During their time at Potter & Company, they gained experience in audit, review, and compilation engagements, as well as tax return preparation for individuals and businesses, with a focus on governmental and non-profit auditing and accounting. Following this, they joined the City of Monroe, NC in 2012 as an Accounting Manager and later moved into the role of Assistant Finance Director in 2023.

Ashley Ivey pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Wingate University from 2002 to 2006.

There are parks, various recreational facilities, ball fields, tennis courts, Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center , Monroe Country Club and Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center. The city even has future plans to include a greenway to connect all of the city's parks. With a boast of amenities such as these, it is no wonder Monroe is an up-and-coming city. Yet, despite all its progressive growth and energy, Monroe still maintains the charm of a true southern town.
