Michael Montes

Michael Montes has a diverse work experience, starting as a Client Accounting Intern at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates in 2008. Michael then worked as a Youth Learning Coach at DREAM from 2009 to 2011. Following that, they held various roles at Harlem RBI, including Office Assistant from 2011 to 2014 and Assistant to Facilities Director from 2014 to 2015. From 2010 to 2018, Montes worked for the New York City Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer and later as an Auxiliary Police Sergeant. Michael also served as the Chair of Special Events/Recruitment Committee at the NATIONAL LATINO PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION BRONX CHAPTER from 2019 to 2022. Montes joined the Sea Gate Village Police Department in 2018, where they served as a Police Officer, Detective, and finally as a Sergeant until 2023. Currently, they are the Director of the Office of Emergency Management at the City of Mount Vernon.

Michael Montes has a background in criminal justice and police science. Michael attended John Jay College (CUNY), although the specific years are unknown. Michael also studied at Chelsea Vocational High School. In terms of additional certifications, Michael has completed the NYPD Criminal Investigator Course through the New York City Police Department in September 2022. Michael has also obtained various certifications, including Animal Cruelty Investigations, Basic Firearm Safety Course from the National Rifle Association, and E-Justice NY Criminal Justice Portal from the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services. Additionally, Michael has completed courses such as Initial Conducted Energy Device (C.E.D) from the Westchester Department of Public Safety, Instructor Development Course- General Topics from the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Service, and Municipal Police Initial Firearms and Deadly Physical Force Course from the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Service. Michael also completed the NYS DCJS Municipal Police/Peace Officer Academy at John Jay College (CUNY). Other certifications they have obtained include Procedural Justice & Tactical Communication from the NJS Community Affairs Officers Assoc. Garfield PD, Regional Hate Crimes Investigations from the New York State Police, and Street Gang Recognition & Identification Emphasis on MS 13 & Bloods from the Magloclen Law Enforcement Network.
