Herman Trautwein has extensive experience in public safety and code compliance, currently serving as a Code Compliance Officer for the City of New Smyrna Beach since April 2019. Responsibilities include field inspections, investigating hazardous conditions, and presenting cases of code violations. Prior to this role, Herman retired as a Fire Lieutenant/Paramedic with the City of Marietta after nearly 28 years, where duties included supervising fire operations, providing emergency medical care, and maintaining departmental regulations. Previous firefighting roles were held in Roswell, Woodstock, and Cherokee County, where Herman was involved in fire suppression, rescue operations, and advanced life support care. Additionally, Herman is a veteran of the US Air Force Reserve, having served as a C-130 Loadmaster, overseeing cargo and personnel operations.
