Hayden McDermott

Hayden McDermott currently serves as an Assistant Planner for the City of Newport since April 2023. Previous experience includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant for RI NEMO at the University of Rhode Island, where assessments of zoning and land development regulations were conducted for several Rhode Island towns. Additional roles include a Watershed Planning Intern at the RI DEM-Bureau of Environmental Protection, where key watershed management plans were authored, and positions at the University of New Hampshire, including Social Justice Program Coordinator and various teaching assistant roles. Educational credentials encompass a Master of Environmental Science and Management and a Graduate Certificate in Community Planning from the University of Rhode Island, as well as a dual Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability and Women’s Studies from the University of New Hampshire.
