Matt Mitchell

Matt Mitchell has a strong career in the fire services field. Matt began their career in 1991 as a firefighter with the City of Noblesville, where they quickly rose through the ranks and became a Lieutenant and Captain. In 2003, they became the Division Chief - Fire Marshal, a role in which they became the first Certified Fire Marshal in Indiana and served on the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission under two different governors. In 2015, they were promoted to Assistant Fire Chief, where they oversaw the management of a $20 million annual budget and served as Chief of Staff for the department. In 2020, they were appointed as the Fire Chief of the City of Noblesville. In addition to their work with the City of Noblesville, Matt Mitchell also served on the Fire Prevention Building Safety Commission for the State of Indiana from 2010 to 2017.

Matt Mitchell graduated from Marian University Indianapolis in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, specializing in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services. Matt obtained a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from Indiana University Kokomo between 2008 and 2010. In the same period, they also completed a Graduate program in Fire Protection at the National Fire Academy.

In terms of additional certifications, Matt Mitchell acquired a Fire Code Specialist certification from the International Code Council in July 2018, as well as a Building Code Specialist - B8 certification from the same institution in May 2018. Matt also holds various certifications from the International Code Council, including Building Plans Examiner, Certified Building Code Official (CBCO), Certified Building Inspector, Certified Building Official (CBO), Certified Fire Code Official, Certified Fire Marshal (CFM), Certified Housing Code Official (CHCO), and Commercial Building Inspector certifications.

Additionally, Matt Mitchell has certifications in Confined Space Rescue - Operations Level from Spec. Rescue International, and Driver/Operator - Pumper and Emergency Medical Technician certifications from the State of Indiana. Matt also holds certifications in Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Inspector I/II, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I & II/III, Fire Investigator I, Fire Officer I, II, & III, and Fire Officer Strategy & Tactics from the State of Indiana.
