Kevin Freeman has a diverse work experience. Starting in 1987, they worked as a Manager at Marty's BBQ, where they handled various responsibilities including food preparation, cash management, and inventory control. In 1995, they worked as a Private Investigator at Marek Investigations for a year. Since 1997, they have been employed at the City of North Kansas City, initially serving as a Major and currently holding the position of Chief of Police. In this role, they oversee the uniformed patrol operations and was previously in charge of criminal and traffic investigations, grant management, recruiting, and budget management.

Kevin Freeman attended North Kansas City High School for an unspecified period of time. Kevin then obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Park University, graduating in 1994. In 2004, Kevin pursued further education and completed a Master's degree in Public Administration from Park University, which they obtained in 2007. Additionally, in 2013, they attended the FBI National Academy for Leadership in Law Enforcement, specifically as part of Session 253.
