Lanie Smith currently serves as the CE Manager for the City of Panama City Beach Government since November 2018, leading the Code Enforcement Department to enhance community quality of life and public safety. Previously, Lanie held roles as a Police Officer and Code Enforcement Officer, emphasizing dedication to justice and community safety. Prior experience includes Operations Manager at Rosemary Beach POA, focusing on customer satisfaction for property owners and guests, and a twenty-year career as a Police Officer/Detective with Longview Police Department, where Lanie served in multiple capacities, including SWAT Team Leader and Gang Detective. Lanie also provided police security at Good Shepherd Health System.

City of Panama City Beach Government

Panama City Beach is a home-rule city with a Council-City Manager form of government. The City Council is made up of five members -- a mayor and four council members; one council member is elected from each of the four wards but all are elected at-large. As of early 2020 the City of Panama City Beach employs about 350 people. The City pays health and vision insurance for employees and offers dental, life and other benefits. The City has a pension plan and provides generous PTO days and 14 paid holidays, including your birthday. The 2020 Census put the City's population at over 18,000 people. The white sandy beaches and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico attracted more than 4 million visitors in 2018, making the City a major tourist destination.
