Rick Cole

Councilmember-elect at City of Pasadena

Rick Cole is an accomplished public servant with extensive experience in urban planning, housing policy, and local government management. Currently serving as Councilmember-Elect and Planning Commissioner for the City of Pasadena, along with a position as Housing Advisor to Mayor Victor Gordo, Rick is focused on developing the City's Housing Element. As Chief Deputy Controller for the City of Los Angeles, Rick works under Controller Kenneth Mejia to enhance accountability and transparency in government. Additionally, Rick is an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University School of Public Policy and an Assistant Professor at Occidental College, teaching courses on city leadership and urban policy. Previous roles include Executive Director of The Congress for the New Urbanism, City Manager of Santa Monica, and Deputy Mayor for Budget & Innovation in Los Angeles. Rick holds a master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in American Studies from Occidental College.
