Katarzyna (Kasia) Kimmel has extensive work experience in the field of emergency medicine. Katarzyna (Kasia) started their career in 2012 as an Emergency Medicine Resident at Baylor College of Medicine. After completing their residency, they joined the Houston Fire Department in 2015 as an Assistant Medical Director, MD-9. In 2016, they took on roles as the Medical Director at San Jacinto College and as the Associate Medical Director at Rice University. Kasia also served as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine starting in 2015. In 2018, they became the Medical Director at the City of Pearland, Texas, and later took on the same role at the Community Volunteer Fire Department. In 2022, Kasia joined the Fresno Texas Volunteer Fire Department Inc as their Medical Director. Katarzyna (Kasia) attended Rice University from 2003 to 2007 and obtained a BA degree in Anthropology and Slavic Studies.

From 2007 to 2012, Kasia attended Baylor College of Medicine where they earned their Medical Doctor degree.

In 2011 and 2012, they pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Health Promotions and Behavioural Science at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health.

Kasia has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2003, they became an Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate after completing their training with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Later, they obtained Board Certification in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine in November 2016. Katarzyna (Kasia) further acquired certification as a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians in December 2022 and as Board Certified in Emergency Medical Services in November 2021, both from their respective institutions.
