Priya Bhakta has a diverse work experience with various roles in different organizations. Priya started their career as a Legislative Intern at the Texas House of Representatives in 2014. Priya then served as a Legal Assistant at Phipps Cavazos, PLLC from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they joined the City of San Antonio as an Economic Development Specialist and later worked as a Recruitment Intern. From 2018 to 2020, Priya worked for the City of Alvin as the Convention & Visitors Bureau Director, overseeing all operations, marketing, and administrative aspects of the department. Currently, they are working for the City of Pearland, Texas as the Assistant Director of Engineering & Public Works, responsible for providing leadership and employee development, overseeing projects and contracts, and improving operational efficiency in various public works areas.
Priya Bhakta completed their education with a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio, from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating between 2010 and 2014. In addition to their degrees, Priya also holds two certifications: "Presentation with an Impact" from Strategic Government Resources, obtained in May 2019, and the "Business Foundation Certificate Program" from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, completed in August 2014.
