Denis Murphy

Denis Murphy is a seasoned professional in public policy and community development with extensive experience in municipal government and affordable housing. Currently serving as Deputy Commerce Director for the City of Philadelphia since October 2022, Denis previously held the role of Senior Director of Corridor Improvements in the City's Commerce Department from January 2002 to April 2023. Denis's earlier career includes a tenure as Head Mortgage Counselor at United Communities Southeast Philadelphia, where support was provided to first-time homebuyers in resolving credit issues and acquiring homes, as well as managing rehabilitation projects for affordable housing. Additional experience includes working as a Consumer Housing Paralegal at Community Legal Services, assisting low-income clients facing housing crises. Denis holds a Master's in Public Policy from Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College.
