Sheila Simmons

Sheila Simmons has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries and roles. Sheila'smost recent role is as the Chief of Communications and Strategies for the City of Philadelphia since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant & Freelance Writer from July 2022 to January 2023. From December 2018 to July 2022, they served as the Chief of Staff for Pa. State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta. Before that, they were the Deputy Managing Editor at The Philadelphia Tribune from August 2016 to July 2017. Sheila also has experience as a Public Relations Consultant and Freelance Journalist from June 2012 to June 2017. Sheila has worked on political campaigns as well, including being the Director of Communications for the Michael Nutter for Mayor Re-Election Campaign from December 2010 to November 2011. Additionally, they served as the Education Director for Public Citizens for Children and Youth from April 2006 to December 2010. Earlier in their career, they were the Director of Communications for PA State Sen. Anthony H. Williams in the early 2000s and worked as a Writer and Editor at The Cleveland Plain Dealer from July 1994 to June 1998.

Sheila Simmons has pursued a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Additionally, they have also explored the field of Writing, General at North Carolina State University.
