Athena Sanchez

Athena Sanchez is an experienced communications professional currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Phoenix College since June 2024 and as Communications Manager for the City of Phoenix since June 2019, where responsibilities have included preparing news releases, social media content, and articles for public consumption. Previous roles include Senior Public Information Officer and Public Information Officer within the same city government. Athena has a strong background in public outreach, demonstrated as Senior Account Executive at Valley Metro/Torres Multicultural Communication, where engagement with over 60 stakeholders for the South Central Light Rail Extension Project occurred. Additionally, experience includes positions in marketing and public service management at Titan Media, Arizona State Fair, Arizona Capitol Television, and Riviera Broadcasting. Educational qualifications comprise a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications, both from Northern Arizona University, along with an Associate's degree in Communication and Media Studies from Phoenix College.
