Rob Buchan currently serves as the City Manager for the City of Prince Rupert since October 2021 and holds the position of Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University since December 2020. Buchan has extensive experience in local government, having worked as a Planning and Local Government Specialist with i-Plan since March 2019, and previously as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the District of North Saanich from May 2010 to December 2020. Other roles include Land Use Services Manager at the City of Campbell River and CAO and Director of Planning for the City of Langford. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Community Planning and Change Theory from the University of Victoria, along with several degrees in urban planning, geography, and public administration.
