Rich Sessler is an experienced fire service professional with a career spanning over two decades. Currently serving as Fire Chief for the City of Redlands since December 2005, Rich has held various leadership positions including Interim Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, Fire Captain, Fire Engineer, and Firefighter. Prior to this role, experience was gained at the U.S. Forest Service from May 2000 to December 2005, including positions such as Hotshot Captain and Squad Boss for the Mill Creek Hotshots. Rich's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands, a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration from Grand Canyon University, and an Associate of Science in Fire Science from Crafton Hills College.

The City of Redlands, incorporated in 1888, in the San Bernardino Valley, 63 miles east of Los Angeles, 110 miles north of San Diego, and 500 miles southeast of San Francisco. It lies within the San Bernardino Valley in the southwestern portion of San Bernardino County, covering an area of 36 square miles within the heart of the Inland Empire. It serves a population of approximately 70,000 residents.
