AJ Deardorff has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. They started their career at West Central Net in 1998 as a Network Administrator, responsible for maintaining PCs, printers, and networking devices. They also created the company's first Active Directory environment and managed inventory and acquisition of PC devices.

In 2005, AJ joined the City of San Angelo and initially worked as a Connectivity Specialist, handling helpdesk requests, troubleshooting hardware issues, and assisting end-users with login and software problems. They later transitioned to the role of Network Analyst, where they ensured the proper functioning and connectivity of the City's data and voice network. This involved collaborating with vendors on large-scale projects and upgrades, as well as monitoring and maintaining servers for voice, email, and web applications.

Eventually, AJ became a Network Engineer at the City of San Angelo, where they continued to contribute to the stability and reliability of the network infrastructure. Currently, AJ holds the position of Deputy Director of IT at the City of San Angelo.

AJ Deardorff has a diverse educational background. They attended Angelo State University from 1995 to 1998, where they studied Computer Science, Music, and Business Administration. Prior to that, from 1993 to 1995, they studied Business Administration at South Plains College. They completed their high school education at Dalhart High School from 1989 to 1993, obtaining a Diploma in General Studies. In addition to their formal education, AJ Deardorff obtained a certification in Small Unmanned Aircraft System from the Federal Aviation Administration in September 2016.
