Marlon Cervantes is a knowledgeable urban planner and educator with significant experience in various planning roles. Currently serving as a Lecturer at California State University, Northridge since January 2024, Marlon has also held positions as an Associate Planner and previously Assistant Planner with the City of San Gabriel since November 2021. Prior experience includes serving as an Assistant Planner for the City of San Marino and a Planning Technician for the City of Lancaster. Marlon began the professional journey as an intern with Pacoima Beautiful and the City of Richmond, California, and also worked as a Sales Associate at UNIQLO. Marlon holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning from San Francisco State University.

Home to a population of more than 42,000, San Gabriel is 4.09 square miles with a diverse population of Asian, Hispanic, Caucasian, and other ethnic groups. The City is governed by a five-member City Council whose members are elected by the citizens of San Gabriel. The City follows the general laws of the State of California and local laws and policies adopted by the City Council. Under the direction of the City Manager and the city management team, City employees see to it that these laws and policies are carried out in a courteous and professional manner.
