Jim Reed

Jim Reed serves Mayor Mahan as Chief of Staff, a position he held for the eight years of the previous mayor, Sam Liccardo. Prior to that, Jim was the VP of Public Policy for the San José Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, overseeing the organization’s legislative advocacy, policy agenda and political engagement. Jim also spent 16 years as a City Councilmember and Mayor in his hometown of Scotts Valley and served as the editor and general manager for the Press-Banner, a weekly newspaper serving Santa Cruz County. He and his wife, Leah, have six children, two of whom are the family dogs Pokey and Skipper.
