Sean Mooney

Sean Mooney is an experienced professional with a robust background in digital services, government operations, and community engagement. Currently serving as the Director of Digital Service and Open Government for the City of San Rafael since May 2018, Sean leads digital transformation initiatives and promotes data-driven decision-making across city departments. Prior roles include Civic Design Manager and Business Systems Analyst for the City of Mill Valley, where Sean managed IT budgets, designed city websites, and co-authored the Strategic Communications Plan. Sean also held positions in library digital services and as a teacher at the NYC Department of Education. Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Education from Fordham University.
