Shannon Parry began their work experience in 2001 at Sustainable Works, where they worked in the Community Program until 2004. In 2004, they joined the City of Santa Monica as the Deputy Sustainability Officer, a position they held until September 2019. In October 2019, Shannon became the Chief Sustainability Officer at the City of Santa Monica.
Shannon Parry earned a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies and a BS in Environmental Science Policy and Management from the University of California, Berkeley, where they attended from 1992 to 1997. Shannon went on to obtain an MA in Urban Planning from UCLA from 2003 to 2005.
