John O'Donnell has extensive experience in urban planning and military service. Currently serving as an Ambassador at the USS North Carolina Memorial since September 2019, John O'Donnell is also a Senior Planner at the City of Santee since August 2013, contributing to current and long-range planning projects. Previous roles include Principal Planner and Associate Planner at the City of Santee, where John O'Donnell focused on sustainability and annexation efforts. John O'Donnell's earlier career in the U.S. Navy spanned over two decades, culminating in the rank of Commander, with notable assignments on various naval vessels and educational experiences at the Surface Warfare Officer's School-Pacific and Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. John O'Donnell holds a Certificate in Urban Planning from UC San Diego, a degree in National Security Affairs from the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, and a BA in Geography from the University of Illinois Chicago.
