Mark Palmer is an experienced sustainability professional with a strong background in green building and renewable energy initiatives. Currently serving as a Sustainability Commissioner for the City of Sausalito since December 2020, Mark previously held the position of Green Building Coordinator for the City and County of San Francisco from February 2001 to June 2017. In this capacity, Mark chaired the San Francisco Municipal Green Building Task Force, overseeing a collaborative effort across 20 city departments. Mark's extensive experience includes leadership roles with the U.S. Green Building Council as Chair of the Government Committee and presidency at Sustainable Resources, where green building programs were developed for local governments. Mark has also served on the Board of Directors for Yampa Valley Electric Association, initiating renewable energy projects, and led environmental design efforts at Habitat Design and Construction. Mark's educational background includes a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University, as well as various courses from institutions focusing on renewable energy.
