Susan Yerkes

Susan Yerkes has extensive experience in parks and recreation management, currently serving as the Director for the City of Somerville since July 2022. Prior to this role, Susan held the position of Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Grandview from January 2016 to July 2022 and served in a similar capacity at Nash County Government from September 2006 to January 2016. Additionally, Susan worked as an Athletic Coordinator for the City of Wilson, NC, from April 2002 to April 2006. Involved with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) as a CAPRA visitor from 2012 to 2018, Susan holds a Master's degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism & Sport Management from North Carolina State University (2011-2013) and a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management from the same institution (1992-1998).
