Bernd Gretzinger

Director Of Emergency Services (fire Chief) at City of St. Albert

Bernd Gretzinger has extensive work experience in emergency services and healthcare. Bernd started their career as a Paramedic in various ambulance authorities such as Muskwachee Ambulance Authority, City of Edmonton, Parkland Ambulance Authority, and Associated Ambulance. In 1990, they joined the City of St. Albert as the Director of Emergency Services, and later became the Fire Chief. Bernd also served as the Deputy Chief Logistics in St Albert Fire Services from 2010 to 2018. In addition, they held leadership roles as President of Frontline Medical Services and Chief Flight Paramedic at Centennial Flight Centre. Furthermore, they worked as an Instructor at Global Training Centre and Emergency Services Academy.

Bernd Gretzinger has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology Specialization from the University of Alberta. Bernd also holds a Bachelor of Applied Business in Emergency Services from Lakeland College Canada. Additionally, Bernd has pursued further education in various fields, including Advanced Care Paramedicine from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), a Certificate in Management and Leadership from the University of Alberta, and Critical Incident Stress Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Furthermore, they have acquired expertise in Fire Inspector Level II and Fire Investigator Level II from Lakeland College Canada. Lastly, Bernd has also studied Emergency Medical Technician at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
