Michael K Heslin has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology and spatial data management. Michael K started their career as a Fire Prevention GIS Analyst Volunteer at CAL FIRE in 1996, where they supported the establishment of a Geographic Information System. Michael K then worked as a Planning Analyst for EARTH TECH, INC., providing support for environmental compliance and analysis.

In 1998, Heslin joined the Rancho California Water District as a GIS Analyst II, where they developed and maintained GIS applications using ESRI software. Michael K also performed spatial analysis and prepared maps and reports.

Heslin later became a GIS Administrator at the City of Moreno Valley in 2001, where they managed GIS data and databases. In 2006, they became the Coordinator of the Inland Empire GIS User Group, supporting members and increasing technical expertise within the GIS community.

From 2010 to 2012, Heslin served as a Board Member for the Southern California Chapter of URISA, an organization that focuses on the use and integration of spatial information technology in urban and regional environments.

In 2011, Heslin joined the City of Temecula as the Deputy Director, and later promoted to the Director of Information Technology & Support Services. In this role, they oversaw a wide range of IT services, including GIS, enterprise applications, network infrastructure, and tech support.

Throughout their career, Heslin has also been involved in various committees and organizations related to technology, including serving as a Technology Committee Member for EDC of Southwest California. Michael K also worked as an instructor for a GIS course at Riverside Community College.
