Alonso Hurtado

Alonso Hurtado is an Engineer specializing in Process, Innovation, and Energy at the City of Toronto since November 2022, providing technical support for drinking and wastewater treatment facilities. Previously, Alonso served as an Engineer In Training at Toronto Water, managing several public infrastructure projects and leading multidisciplinary work teams. Prior experience includes roles as a Junior Engineer at WSP, focusing on water and wastewater infrastructure projects, and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, where research centered on drinking water prechlorination practices. Alonso also held academic positions as an Assistant Professor and Engineering Assistant at the Universidad de Costa Rica, contributing to various engineering and quality assurance projects. Alonso holds a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Licentiate degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Costa Rica, graduating with First Class Honors.
