Neethan Shan

Neethan Shan is a City Councillor for the City of Toronto, holding the position since October 2025, and previously served as a City Councillor from February 2017 to December 2018. Neethan Shan is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Canadian Centre for Civic Action since January 2019 and was an Executive Director at the Urban Alliance on Race Relations during the same period. In addition, Neethan Shan was a Toronto District School Board Trustee from November 2022 to October 2025 and has held various roles in education and civic engagement, including a Public School Trustee for York Region District School Board from December 2006 to September 2010 and a Professor at Seneca College in 2011. Educational credentials include a Master of Education in Sociology and Equity Studies from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, as well as degrees in Education and Human Biology from the University of Toronto.
