Will Johnston

Will Johnston, P.Eng. has extensive experience in infrastructure and building management, currently serving as Deputy City Manager of Infrastructure Services and Chief Building Official and Executive Director for the City of Toronto since April 2018. Prior to this role, Will was the Deputy Chief Building Official and Director at the City of Toronto from 2014 to 2018. Will also held leadership positions at the City of Vancouver from 1999 to 2014, including Chief Building Official and Director of Licenses and Inspections, as well as roles as Deputy Chief Building Official and Code Development Engineer. Additionally, Will was a part-time Engineering Technology Instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2005, focusing on Building Code courses. Will obtained a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from The University of British Columbia between 1997 and 1999.
