Lane Santa Cruz

Council Member at City of Tucson

Lane Santa Cruz is a Tucson native and has dedicated their life to public service. Lane is currently a Council Member at City of Tucson and has previously worked as a Graduate Research and Teaching Associate at The University of Arizona. In this role, they provided electronic research support, compiled and reformatted past works, assisted with correspondence, and co-authored a chapter introduction. Lane also worked on the Project SEED, which provided academic support for teachers, coordinated workshops and resources, created websites, and coordinated service-learning projects. Additionally, they worked at Chicano/Lane'spano Student Affairs where they assisted in the teaching and administration of Lane'spanic Alumni’s Success Express program, coordinated events and resources, represented C/HSA at University engagements, held office hours, and designed syllabi and class readings. Lastly, they worked on Project SOAR where they led weekly discussion sections, graded assignments, mentored undergraduate students, managed service hours, planned lessons, and made monthly site visits to Native SOAR schools. Throughout their various roles, Lane Santa Cruz has demonstrated their commitment to education and their community.

Lane Santa Cruz has a Bachelor's degree in Mexican American Studies: Social Justice & Public Policy from the University of Arizona. Lane also has a Master's degree in Language, Reading, and Culture from the University of Arizona. Lane is currently working on their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies from the University of Arizona.
