Joe Maddox

Joe Maddox has a strong background in the field of firefighting and public safety. Joe began their career in 1979 as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Union City Department of Public Safety, where they worked until 1998. In 2001, they joined the Union City Department of Public Safety as a Training Officer, a role they held until 2010. In 2010, they transitioned to the Union City Fire Department and served as an Assistant Fire Chief until 2014. From 2014 to the present, they have held various leadership positions within the Union City Fire Department, including Interim Fire Chief and currently as the Fire Chief.

Joe Maddox has a diverse education history. Joe obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Fire Services Administration from Waldorf University in 2012 and their Associate Applied Science (A.S.) in Fire Science/Firefighting from Columbia Southern University in 2011. Joe further pursued their education and completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Public Administration from Columbia Southern University in 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Joe Maddox has also obtained various certifications. Joe became a Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator through the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council in February 2005. Joe achieved the Departmental Training Officer and Field Training Officer certifications from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council in January 2001 and December 1995, respectively. Joe obtained their Basic Peace Officer certification from the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council in January 1993. Joe also holds the Certified Public Manager certification from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, which they obtained in May 1992. Furthermore, they are a Paramedic certified by the Composite Board of Medical Examiners of Georgia since August 1989. Lastly, Joe Maddox became a certified Firefighter through the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training in August 1980.
