Shawn Turpin is an experienced public servant and leader with a background in both local government and healthcare. Currently serving as City Councilman for the City of Whiting since January 2016, Shawn Turpin is responsible for approving city expenditures and representing the city on the Plan Commission and Crime Watch. Prior to this role, Shawn Turpin worked at the University of Chicago Medicine from September 2007 to November 2021 as a Patient Service Representative, focusing on patient registration and customer service in a high-volume clinic. Additionally, Shawn Turpin served as a School Board Trustee for the School City of Whiting from January 2005 to January 2016, overseeing an award-winning school district and managing curriculum and staffing decisions. Earlier career experience includes a position as Team Leader at DirectBuy from October 2005 to February 2007, where Shawn Turpin managed a customer service team. Shawn Turpin holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University, earned in May 2003.
