Carl Zipfel

Carl Zipfel has a diverse work experience in both the United States Air Force and the City of Wilmington, DE. Carl started their career in 1987 as a Firefighter/Crew Chief in the United States Air Force and worked there until 1991. In 1992, they joined the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Firefighter for three years. In 1993, they returned to the United States Air Force as a Deputy Fire Chief, a role they held until 2012. Carl then served as a First Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 2012 to 2020. Additionally, they worked as a Battalion Chief/Support Services at the City of Wilmington, DE starting from 1995.

Carl Zipfel obtained their Associate's degree in Fire Science from the Community College of the Air Force, where they studied from 2014 to 2016. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications related to their field. These certifications include NFPA 2400 Remote Pilot in Command for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems and NFPA 2400 Visual Observer for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems, both from the International Accreditation for Fire Service Organizations in November 2021. Carl also holds an FAA License part 107 UAS Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration, which they obtained in February 2020. Furthermore, they have obtained certifications such as Marine Fire Fighter I/II from the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications in March 2013 and NREMT from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in the same month and year. Other certifications obtained by Carl include Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I in August 2010, Fire Investigator in July 2007, and Health and Safety Officer in December 2006, all from the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. Carl also holds certifications from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) for Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator ARFF, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer III, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, and Hazardous Materials Technician. The dates of completion for these IFSAC certifications are not provided.
