Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson is a Board Member at City of Wilmington, DE. Chris has also held the position of Assistant City Solicitor, Litigation Unit at City of Wilmington, DE from April 2014 to January 2017. In this role, Chris was responsible for representing the City of Wilmington, its officers/officials, and individual employees in Civil Rights and other complex litigation matters in District Court, Delaware Supreme Court, and the Court of Chancery. Chris was also responsible for obtaining Summary Judgment dismissals in favor of defendants in several 42 U.S.C. $1983 Civil Rights actions, handling all phases of Jury and Non-Jury Trials as lead counsel in Personal Injury (including Auto, Slip and Fall, and Premises Liability), Contract Actions, Property Disputes, and other civil matters in all levels of Delaware State Courts, providing comprehensive legal advice and assistance to the Police Department Operational Command in furtherance of aiding the department in achieving public safety goals, representing the Office of Professional Standards during Internal Affairs Complaint Hearing Board and Appeal Board hearings, promptly and efficiently handling requests for information directed to the Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards, drafting and revising the Police Department’s employment practices and Directives training Police Department personnel on substantive legal updates, drafting public safety and violence reduction legislation, including the City’s first-ever Body-Camera policy and comprehensive firearms control legislation, serving as advisory general counsel to the City-funded violence reduction program Cease Violence

Chris Johnson's educational career includes a Doctor of Law degree from Widener University School of Law, a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Delaware, and certification from the State of Delaware in Bar Admission to the U.S. District Court of Delaware. Chris also has certification from the United States Courts in Bar Admission to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and certification from the State of Delaware in Bar Admission to the Supreme Court of Delaware. Additionally, Chris Johnson is certified by the State of Pennsylvania in Bar Admission to the Supreme Court of Delaware and the U.S. Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and they are certified by the State of New Jersey in U.S. District of New Jersey and Bar Admissions to the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
