Hirsh Michael

Medical Director, Worcester Division Of Public Health at City of Worcester

Hirsh Michael has an extensive work experience in the field of healthcare. Hirsh is currently serving as the Chief Quality Officer at the Department of Surgery since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Assistant Vice Provost for Health and Wellness Promotion at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine starting from September 2019. From April 2012, they held the position of Medical Director at the Worcester Division of Public Health in City of Worcester. Hirsh also served as the Surgeon-in Chief at UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center from July 2011 to September 2019.

Hirsh Michael began their education journey in 1971 at Columbia University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Hirsh completed their undergraduate studies in 1975. Michael then enrolled at Harvard Medical School in 1975 and obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 1979. Following this, they attended Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons from 1979 to 1984, specializing in General Surgery through their residency program. From 1984 to 1986, they pursued a Pediatric Surgery Residency Program at Temple University.
