Michael Hamel

Michael Hamel currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for the City of Worcester since January 2022. Prior to this role, Michael held the position of Chief of Enterprise Applications for the City of Boston, where responsibilities included leading the division to enhance and support applications across various technologies. Michael's previous experience includes serving as Deputy Chief Engagement Officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Director of the Office of Municipal & School Technology, focusing on facilitating collaboration and leveraging technology resources for local governments. Earlier positions include manager of portal technologies and business and data processing systems analyst for the City of Boston, as well as research fellow and research assistant at two academic institutions. Michael holds a Master of Public Policy & Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Boston University, and a Master Certificate in Business Analysis from Villanova University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Economics & Political Science from Westfield State University.
