Yucaipa is a “General Law” City, governed by a City Council/City Manager form of government. The City Council has the power to make and enforce all laws and regulations with respect to municipal affairs. The Yucaipa City Council is comprised of five Councilmembers elected by districts. Each shares equal voting powers on all items coming before the Council, and the position of Mayor rotates every year. The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney and members of all advisory boards, commissions, and committees. The City Council also serves as the Board of Directors for the Successor Agency to the Yucaipa Redevelopment Agency and the Yucaipa Housing Authority. City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month in the City Hall Council Chambers.
