Derek Davis

Derek Davis is the current General Counsel & Sr. Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs at City University of New York. Derek has held this position since January 2020. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director of the Center on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School from March 2013 to January 2020.

From 2007 to 2012, Derek was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP where they practiced Corporate and Public Finance law. From 2002 to 2007, they were a partner at Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP in the Corporate, Government and Public Finance department. From 2000 to 2002, Derek was a partner at Peabody & Arnold LLP in the Business department. Prior to that, they were a partner at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP from 1995 to 2000 in the Business department.

Derek began their career as an associate at Foley Hoag LLP from 1989 to 1995. Derek then went on to get their JD from Harvard Law School in 1988.

Derek Davis studied history at Boston University as an undergraduate and then went on to study law at Boston University School of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor. Derek then attended Nyack high School.
