Jose Luis Opazo is the CEO and founder of Ciudad Luz, a solar energy start-up focused on transforming the electricity market in Latin America through innovative PV distributed generation models, with experience dating back to 2013. Additionally, Opazo serves as an Assistant Professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, where responsibilities include teaching and researching sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship, alongside directing the Centre for Business Sustainability (CBS-UAI). Previous roles include Senior Sustainability Advisor at POCH S.A. (2012-2015), Policy Researcher at The Climate Group (2008), and Programme Associate for Energy and Environment at UNDP (2002-2007). Opazo completed a DPhil in Science and Technology Policy Studies at the University of Sussex (2009-2013) and holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London (2007-2008) as well as degrees in Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1995-2001).
