Marty Kooistra is an experienced leader in the housing and community development sector, currently serving as the Black Home Initiative Project Manager at Civic Commons since January 2022, where the focus is on enhancing intergenerational wealth among Black households through homeownership. As a Partner at Sapwood Advisors since January 2012, Kooistra provides consulting services to organizations aimed at developing and enriching networks across sectors. Previously, Kooistra served as Executive Director of the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County from November 2013 to December 2021, where oversight was provided for a membership association of 200 organizations addressing affordable housing challenges. Kooistra’s prior experience includes key leadership roles at Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County and Habitat for Humanity International, where responsibilities spanned strategic planning, program design, and management of international operations. Kooistra holds a Bachelor of Social Work and Sociology from Dordt College and attended the Harvard Kennedy School in 2004.
