Katrina Donaghy has worked in a variety of roles in the public sector since 2006. Katrina began their career as a Senior Revenue Analyst - Grants at Brisbane City Council, where they secured $42M in grants to deliver $63M worth of projects. Katrina then moved to Queensland Urban Utilities, where they served as Grants Manager and Project Manager. In 2011, they became Vice President at Strathpine Community Kindergarten Inc, and in 2013 they were Development Manager at Playgroup Queensland. In 2014, they were Business Development Manager at Asthma Foundation Queensland, and in 2015 they became Co-hort | Collaborator at iSpruik. In 2016, they Co-Founded openCoLab and became Chief Executive Officer at Civic Ledger. In 2018, they became Program Mentor - Blockchain at RMIT Online and in 2019 they became an Advisor at Seed Space Venture Capital.

Katrina Donaghy's education history includes attending Maroochydore State High School from 1980 to 1983, Nambour State High School from 1984 to 1985, and Griffith University from 1991 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) in Cultural Politics and Political Theory. In 2003, they earned a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurial and Venture Development from Griffith University. In 2019 and 2020, they attended BDO for Australia's CEO School for Start-Ups, where they studied Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.
