Ann Schimke is a seasoned journalist with a specialization in education policy. As a Senior Reporter at Chalkbeat since December 2012, Schimke has contributed significant insights into educational issues. Prior experience includes roles as a Family Advocate at the Education Project for Homeless Youth within the Washtenaw Intermediate School District from December 2006 to June 2008, and as a Reporter at both Ann Arbor News from February 2000 to June 2005 and Winchester Star from January 1999 to February 2000. Schimke began a writing career as a Freelance Writer for The Washington Post from March 1998 to January 1999. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education Policy Analysis from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School, completed in 2006.
