Mitchell Kusmier

Mitchell Kusmier has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Mitchell began their career in 1998 as an Outside Sales and Customer Relations representative for Quikrete, where they focused on marketing and sales of concrete and specialty products. In 2002, they transitioned to the United States Army, serving as a Scout Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Squadron S-3, conducting multiple combat deployments in Iraq. After leaving the Army in 2006, Kusmier worked as an Executive Officer for AltaFoodcraft, overseeing business development and client relationships in the coffee and refreshment industry.

In 2011, Kusmier joined the United States Department of Defense as a Senior Leadership and Joint Operations Trainer, mentoring and evaluating leaders before their deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Mitchell then co-founded Coffee Brigade, a gourmet coffee brand company with a mission to support veterans and startup charities. Kusmier held the position of Co-Founder until 2020.

From 2012 to 2016, Kusmier worked as the Executive General Manager for AltaFoodcraft, directing strategy, growth, and operations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. In 2016, they joined the US Army again as a Commander for the 2-378th Battalion and later became the Deputy Commander of the Special Troops Brigade. In these roles, they focused on leadership and management development, strategic planning, and implementation of innovation for forward operations.

In 2017, Kusmier started working for the Civil-Military Innovation Institute as the Vice President, and they also became the Director of Business Development and Senior Advisor for the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN). Mitchell was responsible for client development, internal leadership, and strategic partnerships.

Most recently, since 2020, Kusmier has been working as a Residential Mortgage Loan Originator for Thrive Mortgage LLC, where they facilitate the origination of residential mortgage loans.

Mitchell Kusmier has a diverse education history. In 1997, they began their undergraduate studies at John Carroll University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Mitchell completed their undergraduate education in 2001.

In 2006, Mitchell enrolled at Cleveland State University and pursued a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA), with a specialization in Management and Economic Policy. Mitchell graduated from Cleveland State University in 2008.

Also in 2008, Mitchell attended the U.S. Army Career Course, specifically the Graduate Commanders Course (MCCC). This course focused on Company Command and Battalion Staff Operations.

In 2014, Mitchell attended the Command and General Staff College (ILE), where they completed the Intermediate Level Education for Field Grade Officers. This program emphasized Military and Strategic Leadership. Mitchell concluded their studies at the Command and General Staff College in 2015.

Currently, Mitchell is enrolled at The United States Army War College, where they are pursuing a Master's degree in Strategic Studies. Mitchell'sfield of study at this institution is National Security Strategy. Mitchell is expected to complete their studies in 2023.
