Nathan Cataline

Director, Community Planning & Resilience at Civix

Nathan Cataline has extensive work experience in the field of community planning and resilience. Nathan is currently serving as the Director of Community Planning & Resilience at Civix since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked at GCR Inc. as the Director of Community Planning & Resilience from March 2020 to July 2020, and also served as a Project Manager from November 2013 to July 2020.

Before joining GCR Inc., Nathan worked as the Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator at Louisiana Housing Alliance from 2011 to November 2013. Nathan also worked as a Research Manager at Housing California from November 2009 to May 2011.

In addition, Nathan gained experience as a Community Data Coordinator at Community Legal Resources, Detroit Vacant Properties Campaign from February 2009 to July 2009. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Detroit Vacant Properties Campaign from September 2008 to January 2009. Nathan also served as a Research Assistant at the Center for Local, State and Urban Policy, University of Michigan Ann Arbor from September 2007 to June 2008.

Nathan's career started as an AmeriCorps Member at Creekside Community Development Corporation in 2008.

Nathan Cataline pursued higher education in the field of planning, starting with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Subsequently, Nathan continued their education at the University of Michigan, obtaining a Master of Urban Planning degree specializing in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning, which they completed between 2007 and 2009.

In addition to their academic achievements, Nathan also acquired additional certifications. Nathan obtained the HOME Basics Certificate from the National Community Development Association in May 2016. Furthermore, they earned the National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification from FEMA in 2012, although the specific month was not provided.
